WHAT THE FUCK?

every christmas we generate millions of tonnes of landfill and carbon dioxide emissions through our purchasing decisions. not only is this unnecessary but it's offensive to treat our environment so carelessly.

fuck that.

buy this shirt and generate awareness to the waste created during christmas
+ implement some solutions to the problem.

this year we'd love to change that by creating awareness to the issue and changing our purchasing decisions.

TOP 10 SOLUTIONS

  1. send e-cards instead of christmas cards.
  2. in the run up to christmas, uk royal mail delivers more than 160 million cards, letters and packets per day - approximately double the number delivered on an average day. e-cards not only save paper, they reduce the need for extra trucks to deliver them.
  3. avoid overly packaged gifts.
  4. especially when the packaging is plastic and use bio-degradable or recycled wrapping. use paper gift wrap instead of foil or plastic alternatives. better still, use old newspaper to create an interesting eco-friendly present. when you're done, recycle your gift wrap don't throw it on the fire.
  5. use re-usable shopping bags.
  6. each year, an estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide. carry your gifts in a backpack, or re-usable shopping bag. if you do happen to end up with some plastic shopping bags, re-use them as garbage bags.
  7. pool your family presents.
  8. instead of everyone giving one present to every other family member, allocate each family member a person to give a present to. everyone gives one better quality present to only one family member.
  9. give money to the recipient or donate the money to a charity on their behalf.
  10. most people would prefer money over a throw-away present. they can use this money for something they really want. alternatively, use christmas as an opportunity to give back to the community by donating to a charity.
  1. get a small reusable christmas tree rather than buy a new tree every year.
  2. growing, transporting and throwing away over 50 million christmas trees seems like a bit of a waste. get a reusable tree that you can use each year. if you have to get a christmas tree, check that it can be recycled in your area.
  3. don't use plastic plates, cups and cutlery for your christmas parties.
  4. what a waste!
  5. don't hold kris kringle parties.
  6. have you ever remembered receiving a kris kringle gift that you actually liked or found useful? probably not. well the important thing is not to encourage it but if you have to participate in one then you can always pass on your present at another kris kringle or sell it. if you have to give a kris kringle present, give a music gift voucher.
  7. switch to green energy to power christmas lights.
  8. wiring up your entire house with electrical cables and lighting it up like a circus seems to be the 'in' thing to do these days. could you think of a better way to waste electricity? If you must have the festive illuminations then switch to using green energy and use led lights. using led lights can save you 90% of your energy bill.
  9. wear or give this t-shirt to generate awareness of the issue.
  10. buy this tshirt to get people thinking about these issues. we'll plant a native tree for you which will not only offset more than the emissions of this campaign, it will also benefit the area in many other ways such as reducing soil salinity and providing habitat for native animals.
